More Holiday TableRunners from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

With Thanksgiving in the past, it is now time to seriously start thinking about Christmas.

Thankfully, I started thinking about Christmas about a month ago and made up a bunch of holiday table runners from some scraps a friend had gifted me.

I already shared a couple in this post...

Since then, I finished sewing on the bindings of three more.
This first one is another runner made using my Rejoice pattern.

This one was actually gifted back to my "scrap dealer".

Most of the scraps she shared were already cut into squares.  Here is one I made using the ...

With time to Spare from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I can't believe it...I am actually thinking ahead this holiday season.  I realized I needed a few little holiday gifts so I raided a friend's stash and decided to make a couple table runners.

For this one, I used my Rejoice Table Runner pattern.  It is quick and easy and uses a single width of fabric strip for each letter.

I found this fun portrait fabric for the backing.  It definitely adds whimsy to the quilt.

While I was their "shopping" my friend's stash, she kept offering me various scraps.  One of the offerings I couldn ...

A ‘PERKY’ TABLE RUNNER from Kwilty Pleasures

Sometimes being a pattern tester has ‘perks’
besides getting great patterns.
For instance, fabric!
Corinne Wells of Frannie B Quilt Company
Designed a new line called ‘Elegance’.

She reached out to her testers and asked if we could turn around
a quick project using her new fabric line.

I committed  to make a table runner and really
loved the mustard colors in this line.
Corrine sent me these fat quarters.

I looked thru my patterns, quilt books, Pinterest for inspiration.
Found this pattern by Nancy Zieman.
The heartbeat idea didn’t do anything for me..
but I could figure a ...

Guess I’m down to One Blog Post a Month from Quilting Studio Adventures

Good news:  our house projects in the kitchen and bathroom are over!  The painters just left today.  Bad news:  there's been a lot of turmoil locally, nationally, and internationally.  But the good news?  I sew a lot when I'm agitated.  And my soul has needed a lot of soothing.  This table runner has been a wonderful diversion.  Its a combination of hand and machine quilting and based on an Instagram post by @tygeroting.  I captured the spirit of their work and must let them know.

This table runner is batted with Insulbright, the product used for hot pads ...

ELEGANCE FABRIC from Kwilty Pleasures

As a pattern tester we sometime get nice little perks.
This is the newest fabric line, ELEGANCE,  designed by Corrine Wells of
Frannie B Quilt Company.

She reached out to her pattern testers to ask if we could make a project.
Turnaround time was to be quick, what would we make and
she would send us the fabric to us.

I said sure…how about a table runner and I love those mustard colors!
These are the FQs  she sent me.

We could add from our stash but she preferred solids
And try to keep her fabric the star.
I ...

From a Few Scraps from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

It doesn't take much to distract me.

One of my clients brought me a handful of scraps from a quilt she brought me to quilt for her.

Did I have a use for them?  What a silly question!

In no time at all, I created this fun tablerunner.

I pretty much kept the pieces the size she gave them to me.

The colors in the horse fabric in the center is amazing.  I used a dark blue peppered cotton that I have been hoarding for quite some time to frame all those lovely fabrics.

I love all those oranges ...

A little yellow and floral runner from Quilting & Learning

No matter how busy I get, I love to do something unexpected and fun. This week I made a runner for The Joyful Quilter's March TABLE SCRAPS Challenge. The themes were yellow/gold and floral. It was good to play with simple blocks and a thrill to free motion quilt (FMQ) it.

TABLE SCRAPS challenge

As you may know, I try not to get too involved in challenges because I have so much going on....but every once in a while, I let go of that guideline and go for it. Also, since I didn't tell anyone that ...

Two Finishes from Elsie Quilts

Finally finished two projects. This 'tree of life' is quilted now and ready to go back to our guild. I was given the blocks and told "make something from these" but it took me a long time to decide how to quilt it. It is about 72" square. I call it Almost Autumn.

This is a gift, but doubt the recipient is checking my blog so feel safe to post it. I saw similar patterns online but drafted my own versions to suit the amount of fabric I had. The place mats and table runner might only get used once ...

A UFO Finish from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I have said it in previous years, but truly, this year I am focused on finishing some old UFOs.

I am joining forces with a friend who has the same goal so we are supporting each other.

My project for February was to make something with these blocks.  I either needed to make more and make a quilt....

Or I initially thought about combining them with these old blocks into a wall hanging.

Once I thought about it, I decided to just turn these blocks into a large table runner.

When I started analyzing the project, there were a few ...

Twixmas? from From the Strawberry Patch...

A blog-reading friend sent me the link to another blogger  who recently had a most interesting post regarding Twixmas. The term was new to me, but once I read the post I understood fully why my friend had forwarded it to me. After that last post regarding the self-imposed "grace period" granted between Christmas and New Year's, I learned that, according to this afore-mentioned blogger, what I was

It's A Wrap! from From the Strawberry Patch...

And just like that, it would seem, another Christmas has come and gone... or has it? We're still in the Christmas season and these days following Christmas Day can be just as much of a gift as the day itself! In my "rush, rush, hurry, hurry" frame of mind during those days leading up to the 25th I had to back-burner a few things that I had really wanted, and fully intended, to get done before the
